Off-Site Optimization
Off-site optimization refers to work that does not involve direct modification of a website, it still affects the ranking of search engines on the site. There are two main categories of off-site optimization: the strengthening of social ties and involvement of the media. Link building refers to a hyperlink from other sites pointing to your website (home page or other pages on your site). These “backlinks” are critical when ranking well in search engines, and to establish the relevance of backlinks and authority of specific keyword phrases. One of the Google ranking factors (of which there are over 200) is the Page Rank, which measures the importance of a site for a phrase given by the observation of backlinks a site.
